The latest ICC Test rankings showcase significant movement, reflecting outstanding performances across both Test and T20I formats. Rishabh Pant of India and Ben Duckett of England are the major headliners, achieving new career-high rankings following their exceptional performances in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.
Rishabh Pant has surged to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings after his remarkable twin centuries at Headingley. The dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman scored 134 and 118, joining Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower (2001) as the only wicketkeepers in Test history to achieve centuries in both innings of a match. Notably, Pant is the first Indian wicketkeeper-batter to surpass 800 rating points in Test history.
Joe Root remains the top-ranked Test batter globally, closely followed by his fellow countryman Harry Brook in second position. India’s Shubman Gill has made a notable climb, advancing five positions to 20th place after his stylish century in the first innings.
India's premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, continues to lead the ICC Test bowling rankings. His recent five-wicket haul at Headingley solidified his position as the world’s best Test bowler. England’s Ben Stokes has also seen improvement, climbing three spots to secure the No. 5 position in the Test all-rounder rankings – his highest in recent months – after valuable contributions with both bat and ball.
Significant changes have also occurred in the T20I rankings, primarily due to the tri-series held in Glasgow, featuring the Netherlands, Nepal, and Scotland. Michael Levitt, the Dutch batter, jumped 16 places to 14th after a series of consistent performances. Scotland’s Brandon McMullen has also impressed, climbing 20 spots to reach a joint 38th position.
The ICC rankings serve as a key indicator of individual excellence. Every run scored and wicket taken plays a crucial role in shaping the ever-evolving hierarchy of international cricket.
