The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to introduce its own T20 league during the 2025-26 season, joining a growing trend among state associations in India.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the GCA, has confirmed this development to Cricbuzz. While the decision is firm, the association is still in the process of determining a suitable window for the tournament. The number of participating teams and other crucial details are also yet to be finalized.
These domestic T20 leagues have rapidly become vital platforms for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises to scout promising talent. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra are already providing invaluable opportunities for local cricketers to gain recognition and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues typically occur in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
