Record Indian Premier League champions Chennai Super Kings have rolled out a major statement by bringing back former BCCI president N Srinivasan as their chairman. Known for his sharp administrative mind and decades of experience in Indian cricket, Srinivasan’s return comes at a crucial moment as the franchise looks to bounce back from a difficult IPL 2025 season. At 80, he will serve in an advisory role, staying closely connected to the team’s daily operations while limiting travel commitments.
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed Srinivasan’s re-entry, underlining the boost his presence brings to the franchise’s management and strategy.
"See, it's a great boon for CSK and he's been the best administrator for us and I'm very happy that he's come back into CSK. He'll be in an advisory role only because he doesn't travel much, but we'll be in contact with him," Viswanathan told PTI.
"Both of us are in Chennai only. So he's in day-to-day contact with us," he added.
Srinivasan’s return isn’t just symbolic—he’ll oversee CSK’s international ventures, from SA20 to Major League Cricket. As chairman of the CSKCL board, he teams up with Gurunath, the full-time director, and Viswanathan as managing director and CEO, alongside seasoned board members Sanjay Patel, R Srinivasan, Rakesh Singh, PL Subramanian, V Manickam, and E Jayashree—a powerhouse mix of experience and operational know-how.
CSK’s 2025 IPL campaign was their toughest yet, finishing at the bottom of the table with only four wins from 14 matches—their lowest-ever finish. Early injuries to captain Ruturaj Gaikwad meant MS Dhoni had to step in, but even the legendary skipper couldn’t turn the tide in a season full of challenges.
With Srinivasan at the helm, CSK is plotting a strong comeback, leveraging his strategic vision and the board’s expertise to rebuild a squad ready to reclaim the dominance that has defined the franchise for years.
