Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique, known for his love of cycling, fractured his collarbone in a crash on Friday, September 5, and is now set to undergo surgery. PSG confirmed the news later in the evening, assuring fans of their full support for the coach during his recovery.
The 55-year-old manager was treated by emergency services immediately after the cycle accident. Medical reports indicate he suffered a clavicle fracture—a common but painful injury that often occurs after a fall onto the shoulder or an outstretched arm. In Enrique’s case, the break was severe enough to require surgery, as the bone may have shifted out of place.

The official X account of PSG wrote, “Following a cycling accident on Friday, Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique was treated by the emergency services and will undergo surgery for a fractured collarbone. The Club expresses its full support and wishes him a swift recovery. Further updates will be shared in due course.
Treatment typically involves inserting a small plate and screws to hold the bone together, followed by several weeks of immobilisation before rehabilitation can begin. While recovery times vary, experts generally estimate six to eight weeks before resuming normal activity. However, for a high-pressure job like coaching, that timeline could extend even further.
Paris Saint-Germain have started the new season in perfect fashion, winning all four of their matches across competitions. Their campaign opened with a dramatic UEFA Super Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur, where they rallied from 2-0 down to force penalties and held their nerve in the shootout.
In Ligue 1, PSG showed a more pragmatic side. Vitinha’s strike secured a 1-0 win over Nantes, while Fabian Ruiz’s goal edged them past Angers by the same scoreline. Though not free-flowing, those narrow victories underlined the team’s ability to grind out results and maintain momentum.
Their most recent outing, however, showcased their attacking brilliance. Luis Enrique’s men overwhelmed Toulouse in a 6-3 thriller, with Joao Neves firing a sensational hat trick, Ousmane Dembl scoring twice from the spot, and Bradley Barcola also finding the net.
