Facing a probing English attack, he compiled a classy 77-ball 85 before falling to Jofra Archer. The dismissal was a moment of brilliance from the English pacer, who produced a searing yorker that dipped under Breetzke’s bat and thudded into his boots. After a review, UltraEdge confirmed no bat involved, and Ball Tracking showed three reds, sealing his fate. This latest knock added to what has already been a dream start to Breetzke’s ODI career. He kicked things off with a magnificent 150 on debut against New Zealand, followed by a fluent 83 against Pakistan. He then scored 57 and 88 in successive outings against Australia, before extending the streak with his fighting 85 at Lord’s.Matthew Breetzke’s last 5 ODI innings:

By doing so, Breetzke has joined an elite group of South Africans who have posted five consecutive fifty-plus scores in ODIs.
Jonty Rhodes first achieved the feat in 2000–01, followed by Quinton de Kock, who managed it twice in 2017 and 2019, and Heinrich Klaasen, who did so in 2024–25. Breetzke now sits alongside these stalwarts, with the added distinction of accomplishing it right at the beginning of his ODI career.Consecutive 50+ scores in ODIs (South Africa):
