They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and at this year’s Venice Film Festival, Julia Roberts proved it in the most stylish way possible. The Hollywood icon looked so stunning in her Versace ensemble that fellow star Amanda Seyfried simply couldn’t resist wearing the exact same outfit.

It all started when Julia arrived for the photocall of After the Hunt on August 29, wearing a relaxed yet powerful Versace look by designer Dario Vitale. The outfit, an oversized blazer, baggy dark-blue jeans, and a sunshine-striped button-down shirt with sleeves rolled up and buttons left open for a touch of casual cool, was accessorised with a black leather belt featuring a gold buckle. Julia kept the vibe chic with brown leather heels, blushed cheeks, sleek eyeliner, and rosy lips, letting her signature waves frame her face.
Cue Amanda Seyfried. After seeing her friend’s pictures on stylist Elizabeth Stewart’s Instagram, the Mean Girls and Mamma Mia! star sent a simple but iconic request: “Please let me wear the same outfit.” Stewart, Versace, and Julia all said yes. And just like that, Amanda landed in Venice ahead of the premiere of The Testament of Ann Lee and stepped out on September 1 in the exact same look, right down to the belt. Amanda gave it her own spin with black strappy heels, peachy-toned makeup, and her blonde hair in soft waves.
The moment was instantly Instagram-worthy, not only because of the unexpected twinning but also because it championed a bigger cause, outfit repeating as a statement of sustainability. Fans were quick to cheer them on. One wrote, “This actually feels fresh, relevant and inspiring… proves different ages can wear the same look, appeals across generations, and subtly promotes a sustainable message.” Another joked, “Copy cat deluxe.”
And perhaps the best comment of all? “Pretty women!!! LOVE THIS! Both Julia, so generous, like her smile! And Amanda for her fearlessness in repeating it!!! Sustainability at its BEST.”

From red carpets to real life, this is proof that some outfits are just too good to wear only once and when Julia Roberts looks that good, sometimes the only option is to copy her.
