The average groundwater level in Kalaburagi district has declined by 7.33 m below ground level (MBGL) in the last 10 years.
According to the data provided by the Ground Water Directorate, Aland taluk has recorded an alarming dip in water level to 29.48 mbgl in 2024 from 15.98 mbgl in 2014.
The ground water level in Afzalpur taluk was 9.72 mbgl in 2014 but it reached 20.90 mbgl in 2024.

As per the data, though the groundwater level In Afzalpur taluk went on decreasing gradually over the last 10 years, in 2021 the water level recorded a sudden rise up to 6.09 mbgl before again dipping by 11.22 mbgl in 2022 and further to 18.42 mbgl in 2023.
At the same time, Chincholi taluk recorded a drastic fall in water level by 8.64 m, taking the water table from 7.72 mbgl in 2014 to 16.36 mbgl in 2024.
The water table in Kamalapur taluk shows substantial fluctuations. In 2014, the water level recorded was 20.49 mbgl. In 2015, the water level rose to 7.17 mbgl before dipping to 20.01 mbgl in 2017 and then, rising to 3.39 mbgl in 2018.
Since then, the water level has fallen and stood at 11.61 mbgl in 2024. However, the average water level in the taluk has increased by 8.88 m in the last 10 years.
